Many Firsts...

Hi, Mouse here.

First of all I would like to thank the extra visitors reading my blogs. I'm very grateful. All of you are helping me grow my skills as a writer and sharing in my experiences and views. The latter part might sound to most people scary and intrusive, yet I see it as a way for other people like me (an introvert) to see that they are not alone.

In other news... it's Christmas day! This is our first Christmas in Denver and the first with Clovis. I was hoping for a white Christmas, but no luck. It's a nice 60 degrees. This is also the first time, we're not spending it with family. Curse you COVID! We're our own little happy family, though. You have to make the most with what you got and using Skype or Zoom goes a long way. Usually during the holidays you go to parties and get-togethers. I didn't go to many of those unless they were family gatherings. I would usually be the wall flower until someone came over to chat me up. Chatting wasn't a problem for me, it was starting them. I always depended on a friend to make introductions. Once I did get a conversation going and I saw that I was able to keep going; it didn't feel so bad. Lately, I find Skype and Zoom to be like a security blanket. Not sure what it is, but it feels like wearing a mask. I could handle job interviews better. I don't have to worry about going to a strange place and being with strange people. Save me some gas and money too. Speaking of which....

This Christmas I wasn't able to buy gifts for people. This is the first time in many years where I wasn't able to. Not a good feeling. Being out of work is a new experience for me, there are days that I feel that I'm not contributing much to my household and then there are other days that I enjoy it. I'm still waiting to hear from that job opportunity that I had applied to... when was that... a hundred years ago. That doesn't sound right, maybe a thousand. Next month, I should hear something!

Next Christmas, I'm hoping that it is different. Especially, when it comes to visiting family.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. Thanks again for reading on. Be well!
